First Annual Cornhole Challenge

First Annual Cornhole Challenge

Here is a report on the first-ever City Council vs. Youth Council Cornhole Challenge held on November 6th. This event happened as a result of a challenge made by the Youth Council to the City Council.

Round one was a nail-biter, with the City Council eking out a 21-18 victory. But in round two, the Youth Council brought the heat, bouncing back from a tough 1-13 start and claiming the win with a score of 21-20. With one win for each side, a tie was declared, and everyone made a strategic retreat from the wind, cold, and dark to City Hall to warm up with refreshments.

In a bold move to give the Youth Council a firsthand learning experience, the mayor ‘accidentally’ tripped the security alarm when we entered City Hall, just to demonstrate the lightning-fast response of our Police Department. Officers arrived swiftly ready to apprehend intruders. After a little negotiation, they let the mayor off with a friendly warning.

It was a night to remember, full of laughter, great conversation, and a shared resolve for more joint Council adventures! Both the youth and the adults got to know each other better, building connections that went beyond the cornhole boards. The Youth Council brought their energy and vision, showing everyone what our future leaders are made of and leaving us all optimistic about what’s ahead for our city.
