The annual Easter Egg Scramble is one of Ivins’ favorite community traditions, and once again the Ivins Youth Council was proud to be part of making the event a success.
Long before families arrived at Unity Park, Youth Council members were already hard at work. Beginning an hour before the event, they spread more than 15,000 colorful Easter eggs across the soccer fields, making sure children of every age would have plenty to discover.
As the 9:00 a.m. start time approached, another important job began.
Hundreds of excited children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, gathered along the field boundaries, eagerly waiting for the official countdown. Youth Council members worked alongside Parks Department staff to help with crowd control, ensuring everyone stayed safely behind the starting lines until the signal was given.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
At exactly 9:00 a.m., the fields suddenly came alive as children raced across the grass in search of colorful eggs. Within just a few minutes, nearly every one of the 15,000 eggs had been collected, leaving behind smiling faces, overflowing baskets, and happy families.
Events like the Easter Egg Scramble remind us that community service often happens behind the scenes. While families enjoyed the excitement of the morning, Youth Council members quietly helped prepare the event, welcomed participants, and ensured everything ran safely and smoothly.
The Easter Egg Scramble is just one of many ways the Ivins Youth Council partners with the Parks Department throughout the year to support community events. Through experiences like these, members learn the value of teamwork, volunteer service, and giving back to the community they call home.
