Kevin Smith, the CEO of Tuacahn Amphitheatre, gave our Youth Council’s Washington State Fair committee a tour of the theatre’s sets, props, and costumes on Tuesday. The committee members, Roxie Sparling and Averi Jackson, wanted to see what might be available to add to the display the Youth Council is creating to represent Ivins at this year’s Fair.

The theme this year is, “If I can dream.” So, their initial concept plan for the display will show a progression from the early days in Ivins to now and then lead viewers to the future. They were interested in making the display 3D, possibly with clothing or other items representing early settlers.

Mr. Smith offered them the use of “Mana Quin” (a mannequin) they could dress as an early settler along with pioneer-style clothing from the costume department. Roxie and Averi were excited about that idea and decided they needed to do some research about what people were wearing 100 years ago. Mr. Smith also offered to print oversized color posters with reproductions of photos or messages. It seemedf clear after the tour that this was not the last trip to Tuacahn for the committee.
